Not sure if I can solve the connection problem, but I can give you an alternative. Try Netscape Navigator, as it works (and looks) like Firefox 2 does:

You'll want to download the topmost one, the one entitled 'Netscape 9.0.0.6 English'.

Have you tried upgrading Firefox to the current version, 3.0.3? Or tried deleting it and reinstalling it?
First, are you sure that you don't have a bad internet connection?
Second, as next111 said, tried to update Firefox to the current version, 3.0.3?
Third, if all else fails, you will have to use another browser, like Opera or Safari.
I have no problems with the latst version of firefox at all. I use Firefox anyways
Thanks all, but I "fixed" the problem... something to do with my Spyware and/or Firewall(s) that messed up the download of Mozilla Firefox 3.0.1 - now it works FINE!!!
BTW: I recently tried to upgrade to IE 8.0 (Beta) and MAN was it messed up; I deleted it and went back to version 7 - but I'm using Firefox exclusively now (getting used to using it, like practice) and I like it, fine!!!
