In a nutshell, this movie was good. What a ride! I found the plot gave just enough to keep it together, and the sequences of action were non-stop and gripping.

I have one small quibble, but they over used the Lens flare shots too much... like every 5 seconds. Pinch That kinda annoyed me a bit.

I'll vote a 9 also.
Well, I saw it last Monday, and... WOW!!!OhmyW00tHyperDroolThumbsupClapCheersWub

This movie "moved me" from the very first; Iliterally CRIEDCry as James T. Kirk was "being born" - don't want to SPOILER for those (very few) that haven't seen this EPIC film yet!!!Wink

I saw it with a friend that has NO idea about "Trek-dom" and Canon; he even laughed (out loud Laugh ) and such, at the right times, and thoroughly enjoyed this film...that says a lot about it's "mass appeal" to everyone; Trek-fans and not!!!Yes

Although the Alternate Universe/Time-line scenario "bugs me"<_<Shifty to no end - because it's "The BIG Reset Button" that most (hack) writers use to get out of Dead-End plot-lines they write themselves in to - this time (sorry for the pun) it was "natural" and plausible; the "interference" from the future has "affects" on the past and changes things; instead of just "going back to normal" and closing (tidying up) the "Loop-hole Plot-line" they wrote themselves into...refreshing and innovative ploy and resolution.Thumbsup

I "voted" (in the Poll here) a "9" - because nothing is perfect, and that's my HIGHEST mark!!! I'd be hard-pressed to think of a better Trek film (ever) but Star Trek XI is (at least) as good as Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Kahn - which until now, was/is my best/favorite of them all; so if the promised "sequel(s) film(s)" are as good as # III and IV Trek films were...we'll see then?

New "life" and fan-base expansion for Star Trek... Live Long (forever) And Prosper, Trek!!!Yes

When Star Trek XI opened, it knocked "Wolverine" out of the #1 position - taking it's place there - down to #2!
The next weekend (and this was what I feared, releasing ST XI at a time when ALL the "Blockbusters" come out) Angels & Demons knocked Star Trek XI down to #2 (just barely beating it) and tookover #1 slot.
NOW, Terminator: Salvation is opening, and will no-doubt take the #1 slot, again pushing down Star Trek XI another "place" to #3...and NEXT weekend ~~~~~
Harry Potter film is being released!!!Cry

Then the sequel Night At The Museum too!!!Bye

Will Star Trek EVER retake #1 slot?!!!UnsureWackoBlinkPinchHuhSad

At least it's still piling-up the BoxOffice Receipts, and is a HUGE "hit" (and money-maker) for Paramount, JJ Abrams/Bad Robot, and insures Star Trek (as a Franchise) will go on!!!Yes

Live Long (forEVER) And Prosper, Star Trek!!!Thumbsup
Simply put it, it was a great movie, my friends and I saw it twice in IMAX. Well worth the wait. Cool

It flows by quickly, and provides two hours of some great entertainment. I believe their goal of making an enjoyable, profitable movie, as well as "re-launching" the franchise, has succeeded. There are some emotional scenes, but they way it is filmed, it ends on a high note, with plenty of adventure and excitement.
